We've got a new issue with BALL.

Yesterday I finally changed this broken caching code to not raise an exception upon cache miss. Looks like this leaves a lot of code unused. Result: on avarage things are much, much slower. Apparendly we now cache a miss which we better did not.

Dunno how to solve this one. I'd rather got rid of the caching stuff as it is now. This was a failed attempt. An alternative looks good in some other code. I'd rather switch...if I could easily. Let's see how badly we suffer from the reduced performance.
